"My Home Away From Home"
Fittbodz Adrenaline is not your ‘typical' work-out facility, at least I haven't experienced it that way. If I had, I am sure I would have given up a long time ago. I started with the boot camp (group fitness) almost two years ago and at the beginning I was about 225 pounds (and I had already lost 60 pounds). My weight loss had plateaued and I still had a long way to go. So, I joined Fittbodz. I will never forget my first day when I was asked to jog a "warm-up" lap around a baseball field…… I could barely jog 100 meters without coughing up a lung.
Two years later I am about 185 pounds (not at my ideal weight yet……but getting there) and I am still not the most physically fit member of the group, but I think I can at least "keep up" on most days. I have often asked myself, what has made it different for me this time to have stayed so committed. And, the answer I keep coming back to is the overall group support. It has not mattered at any point in time what my fitness ability was……everyone has been supportive from day 1, especially the trainers.
The trainers push me when I need to be pushed and they encourage me to push myself to that next level, but they do it in such a way that I have never felt inadequate or that I am "letting down" the rest of the group. You might think that going for a jog, or doing sit-ups or push-ups are things you can do on your own….so why join a group or boot camp? The answer is that 9 times out of 10, it is much easier to find excuses to either just not to do it (by yourself) and/or to push yourself to do that last sit-up or push-up. It is the group that keeps me going and has kept me going back day after day.
I haven't even mentioned the overall feeling of being on that "adrenaline high" after a boot camp work-out….that alone has made it worth while……as well as the sense of accomplishment of just making it through the work-out day after day. I feel good....and I feel strong (both physically and mentally). The weight loss (which was my original motivation) is actually just the bonus now. I have also recently started ‘Spin' classes for the first time in my life…..and surprisingly I enjoy them immensely.
I often joke to the trainers at Fittbodz/Adrenaline that they are my 2nd home…..in fact, it is true….aside from my home, this is where I spend most of my free time. I work-full time and have three children at home to take care of……believe me, if I am choosing to spend my free time at Fittbodz (which is very valuable to me)……that has to say something!!
My best advice…..just try it!! You won't regret taking that step to invest in yourself!
